Olympic Torch Relay

Working on the Olympic Torch Relay with Avant Garde Marketing and Samsung, our video consultancy and project management role involved bespoke system design, tendering process, equipment installation, commissioning and staffing for the Samsung OTR Caravan during its 72 day tour around the UK leading up to the opening ceremony for the 2012 Games.

The Samsung truck was a custom built with high resolution LED screens built into each side. The playback position was located inside the truck and we designed a system that could cope with the demands of little space and testing environmental conditions.

The ‘on the road’ role consisted of managing daily delivered video content, quick turnaround editing and live vision mixing to provide location relevant content…. All this whilst travelling at 4mph across 7000 miles of rolling Police road blocks, often in gale force conditions, rain, fog, weather warnings, some more stinging rain and once in a while a beautiful summer’s day.
